Kari Sufficool, MD, Board Certified Dermatopathologist

Dr. Sufficool is a board-certified dermatopathologist (skin pathologist) who specializes in the microscopic diagnosis of cutaneous diseases, including squamous cell cancer, basal cell cancer, and melanoma. Her practice also involves the diagnosis of inflammatory processes as well as other benign and malignant growths occurring in the skin.

Dr. Sufficool received her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis and her medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine. She completed a combined four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine / Barnes-Jewish Hospital where she served as Chief Resident in the Division of Anatomic and Molecular Pathology. Dr. Sufficool completed an additional year of fellowship training in dermatopathology at Saint Louis University. Prior to joining United Skin Specialists, Dr. Sufficool worked as a private practice dermatopathologist in the St. Louis area.

Dr. Sufficool is a member of the American Society of Dermatopathology, College of American Pathologists, and the American Medical Association. She has authored several academic publications, received research and educational awards related to the areas of melanoma, melanocytic proliferations, and cutaneous lymphoma, and has presented her work at regional and national conferences. Dr. Sufficool has been recognized with honors such as the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology Stowell-Orbison Certificate of Merit, Young Investigator Award, and the American Society of Dermatopathology Physician-in-Training Award. She was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Outside of her work as a dermatopathologist, Dr. Sufficool enjoys traveling, history, art, and architecture. Dr. Sufficool is also an avid gardener and nature enthusiast, often engaged in outdoor activities such as hiking, exploring, fishing, and kayaking with her husband and son.
