George T. Nahass, M.D., Board Certified Dermatologist/Dermatopathologist

Dr. George T. Nahass is a Board Certified Dermatologist and Dermatopathologist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all skin diseases, including skin cancers, acne, psoriasis, warts, rashes, and eczema to name a few. Dr. Nahass was valedictorian of the 1981 class of Rutgers University School of Pharmacy. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1988 and then completed a 3 year residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his 3 year residency in Dermatology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1992 and joined the faculty at St. Louis in July of 1992 where he worked for 10 years. While at SLU, he completed an additional fellowship in Dermatopathology.

Dr Nahass has received many honors including the Ernest Little Award for outstanding student at Rutgers College of Pharmacy in 1981; Alpha Omega at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1985; and the Louis R. Dinon Award for excellence in teaching in 1987.

Dr. Nahass has authored or co-authored over 45 medical publications and has been an invited guest to speak at numerous lectures during his medical career.

Marilyn Stombaugh, P.A.-C.

Marilyn Stombaugh, PA-C joined Dr. Nahass and Skin Care Center of Southern Illinois in March of 2006 after a 20 year career as first a registered nurse and then 10 years as a family practice physician assistant with St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital.

Marilyn Stombaugh received her nursing diploma from Decatur Memorial School of Nursing and then received her bachelors in nursing from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in 1988. She then attended the University of North Dakota Physician Assistant Certification program and received her PA-C license in 1996.

In 1997 she received the Peoples Choice Award for the best place to go in Franklin County for healthcare. In 1999 she was voted Provider of the Year and in 2002 received the Excellence Award from The Little Egypt Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention Council. In 2005, Marilyn was honored with the OSCAR from St. Mary’s Good Samaritan for the best overall customer satisfaction in the ambulatory network.

In 2011, Marilyn achieved the highest honor within the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA) by becoming a SDPA Diplomate. The SDPA is the only specialty organization that has developed a program that awards Diplomate status to experienced dermatology physician assistants.  Marilyn achieved this high honor by completing a rigorous online course through the Dermatology Distance Learning Initiative (DLI).  This course is a very challenging program and consists of 10 modules which cover a wide range of dermatological conditions including pediatric dermatology, connective tissue disorders, pigmented lesions, eczematous disorders and more.

 

Karilyn Crook, P.A.-C.

Karilyn Crook is a certified physician assistant who joined Skin Care Center of Southern Illinois in July 2017. She has nearly ten years of experience in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology providing annual skin checks, Botox®, fillers, laser treatments, KYBELLA®, skin care recommendations, and scar treatments. She is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants (SDPA), the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), and the Illinois Academy of PAs (IAPA), all professional organizations which provide continuing education programs to improve patient care.

Karilyn has her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and graduated magna cum laude from Western Illinois University with a Bachelors in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She sees adult and pediatric patients to diagnose and treat all conditions of the skin, hair, and nails.

 

Mitzi Neal, R.N.

Mitzi Neal, R.N.  joined Dr. Nahass in 2005 as his clinical office nurse.  In 2010, Mitzi became Skin Care Center’s cosmetic nurse injector and cosmetic laser specialist.  Mitzi has undergone extensive training from  Merz Aesthetics and Allergan for injecting dermal fillers (Radiesse, Belotero and Juvederm) and neurotoxins (Xeomin & Botox).  This has included training from top doctors and nurse injectors in the St. Louis metropolitan area.  She has also undergone training from Cutera Lasers for laser hair removal, vein therapy, IPL/Limelight, Titan and Pearl and truSculpt.  Mitzi’s training first as a clinical dermatology nurse, has enabled her to skillfully assess the needs of all of our cosmetic dermatology patients.  Mitzi also provides all esthetic procedures including SkinPen (microneedling), chemical peels, microdermabrasion, skin rejuvenation and more.  In addition, Mitzi has thorough knowledge of all of the product lines carried by Skin Care Center (SkinCeuticals, Jane Iredale Mineral Make-up and LaRoche Posay).

 

Tammy Jones, Aesthetician

Tammy Jones resides in Nashville, Illinois.  She became a licensed aesthetician in July 2016.  Having been an aesthetics patient of Skin Care Center since 2005, she became knowledgeable about the importance of proper skin care to maintain good skin health.  It is at Skin Care Center where she first met an aesthetician and through routine visits with Mitzi Neal, R.N. to maintain her own skin health, she developed a passion for skin care which led to her aesthetician education.

Tammy works to improve the health and appearance of your skin and achieve your skin care goals. She provides customized facials and exfoliation peels for all skin types, microdermabrasion, SkinPen microneedling, dermaplaning, and Jane Iredale make-up color matching.  She consults on the skin care products and treatments available at the clinic.

Tammy firmly believes that great skin doesn’t happen by chance, it happens by appointment!

 

Nancy Mink, R.N., Clinic Team Manager

Nancy Mink, licensed R.N. in Illinois, Alabama and Tennessee, received her Associate of Science degree from Tennessee State University in 1995. Nancy has cultivated diverse nursing experience, including perioperative circulator at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Tennessee, office nurse, school nurse, and most recently health center manager of the Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation. She became the clinic team manager of Skin Care Center of Southern Illinois in 2017.
