Cutera Laser Hair Removal
Cutera laser hair removal is perfect for stubborn body hair that refuses to go away. The system provides permanent hair removal for all skin types and tones, from light to dark, and is extremely safe and effective. Laser hair removal is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed in the United States, and Cutera is one of the more commonly used in dermatology offices. If you’re not happy with the results of shaving, tweezing, or waxing, making a Cutera laser treatment appointment at our southern Illinois clinic is an option worth considering.

What Areas can be Treated?
Our lasers can remove hair from all parts of the body, including the face, legs, arms, underarms and back. More sensitive areas can also be treated, such as the chest and bikini lines.

What does the Cutera Laser Hair Removal Treatment Feel Like?
When the pulse of light is delivered, some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required. However, some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated. Talk to your dermatologist about your pain tolerance to decide which option works best for you.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Most areas require 4-6 treatments to get the best results. However, the number of treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on hair thickness, the area treated, and your hair’s growth cycle. If your body hair is thick and dark, it may require more sessions.

Each hair grows at a different rate and goes through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. Our laser treatments work by disabling active growth phase hairs. Since other hair will enter the active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the follicles in a given area.

What Happens after the Treatment?
Immediately following your Cutera laser hair removal treatment, the area may appear slightly red or swollen. Three to seven days after treatment, you may experience what seems to be hair regrowth. Most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not re-growing. Between treatments, you should not wax or pluck your hair, but it is permissible to shave.

Following the treatment, you can return to your normal activities right away. We recommend using sunscreen on any treated areas exposed to the sun.

What are the Possible Side Effects?
Although patients experience few side effects, the most commonly noticed are a slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for only a few hours. In rare instances, blistering may occur.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Compare to Other Hair Removal Methods?
Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods that must be repeated on a frequent basis. Our laser hair removal treatments offer permanent hair reduction for lasting results. Remember that only a professional can administer a permanent hair removal treatment.
