What is SkinPen®?

SkinPen is a microneedling device that stimulates your skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen and elastin for healthier, younger-looking skin.

How does it work?

Microneedling works by gently gliding a pen-like device over your skin as tiny surgical needles create hundreds of microscopic channels into the dermis. SkinPen creates controlled micro-injuries to the skin which stimulates the body’s natural wound-healing process. SkinPen controls the rate and depth of these injuries to progressively encourage new collagen and elastin production, leaving your skin smoother and healthier over time.

What does SkinPen treat?

SkinPen can be used for multiple skin concerns such as acne scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, pore size, texture & tone.

Does SkinPen hurt?

At the Skin Care Center, I will numb my patients topically prior to treatment. This will allow for little to no discomfort. Most patients report certain areas of the face to be more sensitive during the treatment but nothing that can’t be tolerated. A mild sunburn like feeling is normal for post treatment discomfort.

Is there downtime?

That’s the best part, there is no true downtime! Most will experience redness lasting the day of the treatment, some will still be slightly red/pink a day or two following. Most patients will return to their normal daily activities just one day after their treatment.

What will my post care be?

I will create an individualized plan for each patient to restart their normal products again. You will receive two products from us with instructions on how and when to use them. These products promote calming and healing of the skin. Due to the nature of microneedling, we recommend you only use the products for the first 24 hours after your treatment. The day of the treatment I always advise to refrain from sweating, sun exposure, and wearing makeup. While workouts and the use of makeup can be resumed the following day, sun exposure should be avoided for a few days following the treatment.

Is SkinPen right for me?

SkinPen is safe for all skin types! The best way to determine if Skin Pen is the right treatment for you is to schedule a complimentary consultation. If this treatment is for you, then we will set up a treatment plan during this time which will include how many treatments you may need.

Fun Fact

SkinPen is the first microneedling device cleared by the FDA. It is clinically proven to safely and effectively treat acne scars on the face!
